How Can You Support Your Local Winery?
During the talks I give to audiences throughout the Nutmeg State on the many wonderful wineries and vineyards there are, I often mention that if someone is unable to visit one of these locations in person, there are many other ways to support them.
Here are a few ways to show that you are a champion of small businesses:
Buy wine online – if you have moved out of Connecticut, but want to still enjoy the wine you sipped when in the state, look to the website of the winery to see if they sell their wines; or even if you live in Connecticut, but can’t make it to your favorite local winery, be sure to place an order.
Write a review of your experience at that winery on Yelp – Reviews are so important. When you are shopping for a product on Amazon or other shopping sites, often times you look at the reviews to see what others are saying about that product to help make an informed decision, right? The same goes for people traveling to a Connecticut vineyard. Be sure to leave a glowing review of your visit to wineries and vineyards in the Nutmeg State to help influence others’ decisions and support these businesses.
Recommend the winery or vineyard to friends and family – This is an easy one, I hope! If you had a great time when you took a trip to a Connecticut location, I hope you will tell EVERYONE you know about it and encourage them to visit!
Like their posts on social media and share their content or tag a location in your reels or posts – Here’s another simple way to show you really like a local winery or vineyard; just hit that like button or perhaps tag the vineyard or winery in a reel or post from your recent time spent at that location! Or, share a post from a winery you enjoyed (be sure to tag them, of course) and let others know, who follow you on social media, that you are promoting this place and hope they’ll consider adding it to their travels the next time they are looking for something to do! And, who knows, that winery or vineyard may share your content on their social media account too!
Of course, the number one way, in my humble opinion, is to visit these fabulous places in person. But, I know often times, that can be easier said than done with commitments and obligations or even very busy schedules. But, consider one of these other ways to show how much you enjoy these agricultural destinations, even if you can’t travel to them right now.
What’s a tip you would recommend for people to help support these local small businesses? Or, if you are reading this and you don’t live in Connecticut, what might you recommend for supporting these types of businesses where you reside? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below.
