Playing Easter Bunny for Children in Need

Written for McKesson Medical-Surgical

As Stanton McComb has said, “We have a great team and a great culture at McKesson MedicalSurgical!” And what better way to illustrate that than by giving back to the community.

Recently, Jeff Bowman invited his Home Medical Equipment (HME) Northeast and Southeast sales teams to Jacksonville, FL for a meeting and a team building event. The group set out not only to discuss business, but also to raise money and spread some joy to children.

The team chose to “Build a Basket” for kids at the Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, a McKesson Cancer Care Community Partner.

“Our HME sales team made Easter baskets for the kids who were to receive cancer treatment the week leading up to Easter. Besides making the baskets, the team donated $400 of personal donations to Nemours on top of the $1,500 grant from the McKesson Foundation,” said Bowman. “I give Tina Lambrou and Dennis Lichas a lot of credit. They coordinated the event for us.”

Approximately 25 HME sales and corporate team members made the baskets and handed out the baskets to the kids.

“Kids were coming in for treatment and they and their siblings would get an Easter basket. Many of these kids don't have much, if anything, so though at times we may take an Easter basket for granted, this can be a very big deal to a kid and their family,” said Bowman. “This was a terrific opportunity for us to give and make a real difference.”

Development Coordinator at Nemours Trish Bautista, sent a letter to Jeff and the team thanking them for the contribution. She added a personal note that said, “So great to meet you, Jeff! You have a very generous and awesome team – thanks so much for including me in the McKesson culture!”

Jeff echoes Trish, “I agree with Trish, I have a very generous and awesome team and McKesson is a great company with a great culture!”
